Top 5 Zelda Themes

I’m a big fan of the Legend of Zelda series, and you don’t spend hours upon hours of a Zelda game with the sound off. Oh no. So over the course of the series you’re bound to get a tune or two stuck in your head just like me. The only way to let these melodies escape my mind before driving me insane is to do a top 5! Yeah, let’s pretend that’s the plot of this list. Just keep in mind these are MY top 5 FAVORITE Zelda themes and not my attempt to explain which ones are the BEST. With that sound reasoning in mind, let’s see what we have hear. Heh heh. See what I did there? Oh nevermind.

#5 Hyrule Field (Twilight Princess)

Link-Riding-Through-Field
This theme, with the game’s motif worked in, is filled with upbeat adventure and quirky flourishes that keep it lively and fresh. It’s also beautifully arranged with solid instrumentation. I guess a lot of my love comes from the game itself and also because this tune itself is just cool. Putting these two pieces together in context with each other just makes for a mighty combination that overpowers any other senses of reasoning. So it’s just awesome, alright?

#4 Song of Storms

This is one of the catchiest tunes from Ocarina of Time. The loop just runs so well that you end up listening over and over and over again. The way you learn the song is also a bit of strange case in the space-time continuum. This song isn’t even one of the most useful tunes, but I’ll be damned if it doesn’t lodge itself into your memory for longer than you’d care to admit.

#3 Gerudo Valley

Spanish guitar vibes and trumpet accompaniment blast through this desert area. It has a mood, a nice beat, and a catchy composition. The attitude gets you pumped for tough trials of the desert ahead. Plus the acoustic guitar and trumpet sounds are pretty nice in general. Let’s get ready to Gerudo! Did I mention there are hot girls in Gerudo Valley? Ahem, moving on.

#2 Koholint Island

The overworld of Link’s Awakening sports a similar tune to its predecessors, yet it adds in an entirely new section to give it some new life. I don’t think we’re in Hyrule anymore. I just find it to be a better rendition of the theme, personally. Then again, I might just be clouded by my love of this unique little Zelda title as well. Either way, just let this puppy run as you explore this strange new land. Who knows, you might just find yourself humming along before you know it.

#1 Tal Tal Heights

An original one from Link’s Awakening this time. This theme only plays in the mountains, but I wouldn’t mind if it was just the whole soundtrack. It’s just an awesome tune. It’s fast-paced, energetic, catchy, and I just happen to like the way the tune sounds. It’s awesome! Nothing gets you pumped to go adventuring like Tal Tal Heights! Is… is that a Yoshi egg up there? No way, I must’ve dreamed that part.

Well, that’s all I can really say on my favorite themes. I’ll link a video below so you can hear the tunes as well. You’ll even get to see my brother’s top 5 so… bonus! But what are YOUR favorite Zelda themes? Please let me know in the comments as I’m very interested. I hope you’ve enjoyed thumbing through some of these old tunes and reliving their glory with me. Thanks for reading.
