Conker’s Bad Fur Day is a 3D platformer adventure game by Rare for the Nintendo 64. It’s rather special to me as it was the main reason I got back into reviewing video games after two failed iterations of game review series. That was about five years ago now, and upon replaying the game I feel like I’ve got a better grasp on how I feel about it. So as a celebration of my time reviewing games, I thought it’d be worth re-reviewing this one to see how it holds up now that all of the excitement has had time to die down and allow me to look at it with a more critical eye. Banjo-Tooie is the sequel to Banjo-Kazooie on Nintendo 64. Like its predecessor, Banjo-Tooie is a 3D platforming collect-a-thon adventure. The story picks up two years after the events of Banjo-Kazooie. We open to a cutscene of Mumbo, Bottles, and our main heroes in a card game when out of a wall in Spiral Mountain appears a giant drilling machine. It turns out the drivers of this device are none other than Gruntilda’s sisters. They free her from her prison underneath a rock that her minion, Klungo, has been unable to move all this time. She emerges as a predominantly skeletal figure. Two years under a rock will do that to ya. But her sisters reassure her that they have a plan to fix this. The group hears the commotion and Mumbo volunteers to check it out. Continue reading “Banjo-Tooie”
Jet Force Gemini is a blending of first-person shooting and 3D platforming elements in a game by Rareware for the Nintendo 64. On your journey, you learn that the insects that infested your ship are minions of Mizar, a larger, more evil bug that has been causing all kinds of trouble this side of the galaxy. He has even enslaved the Tribals, a bearlike race, to do his work for profit. Can you and your friends save the Tribals and stop Mizar? Continue reading “Jet Force Gemini”
Banjo-Kazooie is a 3D adventure platforming collect-a-thon on the Nintendo 64. It was developed by Rareware, a company well-known for having some of the best games on the system, such as Donkey Kong 64, Goldeneye, and Killer Instinct Gold among others.
